Kirsty Thompson
Education Manager with QTS
Ever since I was at Primary School I have wanted to be a teacher. Inspired by unique teachers with a real care for the individual, I wanted to make a difference to the experience that not only forms the basis for the rest of our lives, but can help us change direction when we feel off track. I graduated with a BA(Hons) in Primary Education with Qualified Teacher Status in 2014 from Bishop Grosseteste University and went on to transform my children's activity group into a business offering educational activities where the learning was thoroughly embedded in fun! Alongside this, I worked for two years as a class teacher at a Steiner School, which deepened my understanding of the benefits of child centred and age-appropriate learning. I loved my class, but really wanted to do more to support those who had not had the easiest journey through education and encourage more young people and adults to see education as a lifelong tool that we can use in order to achieve our goals, no matter what they are or when we dream them up. I worked for myself as an Educational Wellbeing Coach, teaching 1:1, running adult learning courses and mentoring school students before expanding my business into Just Begin as you see it today, taking on a business partner and employing our first member of staff in the process.
I have a real passion for encouraging individuals to see that they are never as stuck as they may feel they are and I enjoy working with them to develop their confidence, self-belief and ultimately the tools to go on to work towards far bigger goals.
When not working, I always have a project on the go! I enjoy cooking, crafting, building LEGO (because who said we have to grow up) and walking my dog, Maddy. My dream goal is to fully renovate a house, so I am always working towards being able to do that one day.
